Earlier this year, Enabled Energy had their new staff complete the coursework for a Data Center Energy Practitioner (DCEP). Four engineers attended the course presented by the Center of Expertise for Energy Efficiency in Data Centers in a virtual classroom. Unlike other Data Center training offerings, the DCEP certificate remains the only one issued under the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the Federal Energy Management Program in conjunction with a training program developed by Lawrence Berkley National Labs (LBNL). The purpose of the DOE program and certification is to:
“…raise the standards of those involved in energy assessments of data centers to accelerate energy savings in data centers. The Program is driven by the fact that significant knowledge, training, and skills are required to perform accurate energy assessments in data centers.”
Enabled Energy strongly believes 100% of their Technical and Delivery staff should be masters of the skills presented in this course. The course provides a foundation for them to:
- Conduct data center assessments – Identifying and evaluating energy efficiency opportunities in the data centers – specifically in electrical systems, air management, HVAC and IT equipment
- Use the Data Center Profiler (DC Pro) and select Assessment Tools
These skills augment their education and field experience to provide innovative energy savings programs for each of our clients through the EE-Z Save Program! The DCEP skills and Assessment Tools are used during the Step 1 and 2 analysis of the clients facilities.
